In RK-CMS, the version number usually consists of two digits separated by a period: for example, 1.5, 2.0, 3.2. Sometimes a third digit appears, but this is rare and only applies to unofficial patches.
The main feature: in RK-CMS, all official plugins and modules are included in the distribution—they are downloaded along with the CMS itself.
Therefore, when a new version of the system is released, all plugins automatically receive the same version number. If your CMS is version 2.3, then all plugins are also version 2.3. No compatibility checks are required—everything is already agreed upon.
Now, let's talk about what the numbers mean.
The first digit indicates a major update.
When the first digit changes (for example, from 1.x to 2.0), it's a significant change: new features have been added, the architecture or interface has been redesigned. Such updates are released infrequently and require attention. Examples: 1.0, 2.0, 3.0.
The second digit indicates a minor update.
If the second digit changes (for example, from 1.4 to 1.5), it means that bugs have been fixed, stability has been improved, or minor improvements have been added within the current major version. Such updates are released regularly. Examples: 1.1, 1.10, 2.3.
The third digit is not used in official versions of RK-CMS.
However, if a minor issue needs to be urgently fixed after an update, an unofficial patch may be released – in which case a third digit will be added to the number, for example, 2.1.1. Official versions always have only two digits.
